completed by IROJE KHM architects, this polyhedral dwelling in seoul has been designed for a client who wanted to ‘live in nature’. located near the bukhansan national park on the outskirts of the south korean capital, ‘blooming house’ is conceived as an extension of the site’s sloping terrain – maximizing each corner of the plot.

shielded from the neighboring buildings, the dwelling exists behind angular façades that contain a variety of external courtyards. in order to meet the client’s demands, the design team sought to cover each of these outdoor areas with greenery and natural vegetation. the areas include a range of private and communal spaces with a large concrete table the centerpiece of the home’s roof terrace.

internal volumes are bathed in natural daylight, with carefully positioned windows placed to ensure the privacy of the home’s occupants. provision for four parked cars is found at the lowermost level, with a green valley leading to the home’s primary living accommodation at the first storey. an additional living room is positioned at the level above, alongside the master bedroom and further dining facilities.
