Verdant 100,000 sq. ft. hotel
Gallery: HWKN unveils the verdant 100,000-sq.-ft. YOTEL hotel it design…
HWKN‘s Matthias Hollwich, Brad Engelsman, Jerry Figurski, Fan Zhang, Brandon Conde and Andrew McBride designed the inventive structure in collaboration with YOTEL and Synapse Development Group, garnering inspiration from traditional architectural elements found in Brooklyn. The resulting tower is characterized by a cascading, gradated facade that echoes the chic but youthful nature of Williamsburg.
“We felt it was important to create a distinct and modern design that would establish YOTEL Williamsburg as a destination for global travelers, while the sculptural qualities of the building also connects with Williamsburg’s artistic bent,” said Matthias Hollwich, Principal of HWKN.

In addition to the BQE-level rooftop garden, the building will boast street-level retail, the 110-key YOTEL tower, and a number of limited condominiums with views of Brooklyn, Manhattan and the East River.
The new YOTEL Williamsburg is expected to open in 2017.
