CALL TO ACTION – CALL YOUR SENATORS

We are about to see exactly what the Senators we progressives have been supporting for years are made of. So far, no one on the below list has given me cause to feel optimistic that he or she will see the Supreme Court scam for what it is. Under Article II, Section 2, second clause of the US Constitution, the President of the United States “…shall nominate, and by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate,…Judges of the supreme Court…”

There is nothing conditional about the duty of the President to nominate a Supreme Court Justice. Yet the RepubliCONS invented a constitutional “principle” that a sitting President couldn’t do so if the remainder of his term were under a year. Complete and utter nonsense. It was simply a power ploy to deprive President Obama of his right to fill the vacant seat.

If Gorsuch had an ounce of principle, he would have declined the nomination in deference to Merrick Garland, the nominee from whom the RepubliCONS stole the seat. Gorsuch’s failure not to publicly recognize that the RepubliCONS were scamming the system says all you need to know about him. But if that doesn’t say it all, there’s the fact that he is against just about everything a progressive stands for, including women’s fundamental right to have control over their own bodies.

Why don’t the Democrats simply remind the RepubliCONS that, as staunch Constitutional originalists, they should be happy to allow two more seats to go vacant and have a Supreme Counrt with the same number as the original court had: 6 members. Let Gorsuch go.

Note that not one Democrat has said they’ll be on board with Trump’s nominee. Nonetheless, these 15 should get some calls and letters sent to their home offices: Sens. Michael Bennet (CO), Catherine Cortez Masto (NV), Joe Donnelly (IN), Maggie Hassan (NH), Heidi Heitkamp (ND), Tim Kaine (VA), Angus King (ME), Joe Manchin (WV), Claire McCaskill (MO), Bob Menendez (NJ), Chris Murphy (CT), Bill Nelson (FL), Gary Peters (MI), Jon Tester (MT), Mark Warner (VA).

Here is the web site for the US Senate members with links to their home offices and their contact numbers: https://www.senate.gov/senators/contact/
