On December 8, 2015, one day after Donald Trump called for a ban against all Muslims from entering the country, White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest addressed the media at a U.S. news conference. Earnest said:
“What he said is disqualifying, and any Republican who’s too fearful of the Republican base to admit it, has no business serving as president either.”
Earnest also called Trump’s verbal “bluster” offensive, “toxic,” and dangerous to this country’s sensitive international relationships. The press secretary then added:
“And you have the Speaker of the House (Republican Paul Ryan) saying he’d vote for Donald Trump. So that does not indicate that the Republican Party has joined the rest of us in the 21st century.”
The disqualification of Donald Trump to become president, if enforced, would be music to the ears of millions in the United States and around the world. Many have followed his incredibly hateful and ridiculous rhetoric since last spring, when he announced his plans to run for the highest office in the country. Few thought he would get this far. The pompous reality show billionaire started off funny and entertaining— he was a novelty. But soon he exposed his odious, racist, sexist, bigoted and dangerous side. Many people now compare Donald Trump to Adolf Hitler. It would make sense that with his statements, he would naturally be unfit to take over the Oval Office. But what if Trump apologizes? What then? One can’t deny this man is exceptionally resilient. More will be revealed as he continues to surprise and enrage more of the masses every day.
