A new video from Brave New Films highlights how President Trump’s anti-immigrant crusade has torn one Hawaiian family apart by deporting the father—while drawing harsh condemnation from a federal judge as being needlessly cruel.

“Judge Reinhardt” tells the story of Andres Magana Ortiz, 43, a Hawaiian coffee farmer, who came to the U.S. when he was 15, raised a family here, started a successful business and married an American citizen—but was still ordered by federal officials to leave. He returned to Mexico in July, although his family is pursuing appeals so he can return.

Ortiz’s case drew national attention after Judge Stephen Reinhardt with the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals wrote in a May 30 opinion, “President Trump has claimed that his immigration policies would target ‘bad hombres.’ The government’s decision to remove Magana Ortiz shows that even the ‘good hombres’ are not safe.”

Brave New Film’s video is narrated by actor Martin Sheen.
